Your bass boat is equipped with a very powerful outboard motor, capable of
moving the boat around the lake very quickly. To start the outboard motor,
press "O" on your keyboard. If you are using a mouse, just point at the word
OUTBOARD with your mouse and press the left button. The number 1 beneath the
word OUTBOARD will light up, indicating that the motor is running on the
lowest speed. If you have the sound turned on, a buzzing sound will be heard
from the speaker in your computer.
Once the outboard motor is running, you can speed it up or slow it down to
suit your needs. To speed up, press the INS key on your keyboard. To slow
down, press the DEL key. These keys are usually on the numeric keypad. If you
are using a mouse, just point at the speed you want (1 thru 5) in the command
window and click on it. The speed you have selected will light up. As you
speed up, the frequency of the buzz you hear will increase, provided you have
the sound enabled.
The movement of the boat with the outboard motor running is the same as when
the trolling motor is running. If you are in CAST MODE, use the "A" key to
move the boat to the left, the "D" key to move it right, the "W" key to move
up, and the "X" key to move down. Diagonal movement is possible using the "Q",
"E", "Z", and "C" keys. The outboard motor can be used to move the boat at
high speeds. The faster you go, the more gas you use, but less time is
consumed.
Many lakes have areas designated a NO WAKE areas. This means that you must
go through the area with only enough speed to maintain steerage in your boat.
In BASS CLASS, if you come to a NO WAKE area (designated by floating signs),
be sure to slow down to speed number 1. Failure to do so may result in a
citation and/or fine. These areas may be passed through under power of the
trolling motor without and hassles.
When moving the boat under power of the outboard motor, it is advisable to
wear your life jacket. In BASS CLASS, if you are zooming around on the lake
using the outboard motor, you might get a citation if you are not wearing
your life jacket. If the words LIFE VEST are lit at the top of the command
window, you have your life jacket on.
